Well, I’m just saying thank you for the previous advice. So far on his journey I’ve successfully gone through 4 month and about 22 days of being natural. Now, at this very moment, my hair is about half my pinky finger or a lil more and I have then plat, pus my mom put some rubber bands in m hair (against the hairdressers wishes), oh, and my new hairdresser also died my hair black, because my hair is multi colored (black, brown & goldish red ), she also told me that all I needed to use was Wild Growth hair oil and keep plating my hair…and i think this artical is helpful not only to my hair but my skin…thank u
Hi. I really loved your article about how to take care of natural hair but right now I’m transitioning from permed to natural hair, so right now my roots are curly but the rest is straight and my sister told me that my hair is dead, so I was wondering if you knew how to revive it. I also wanted to learn about the process of taking care of your hair. My hair gets dry very fast, and I tend to get split ends very easily. I use argan shampoo and conditioner but I’m not sure it’s the right product for my hair. So my questions are
There's good reason why hairstylist Andre Walker won seven daytime Emmy awards for his work with Oprah for The Oprah Winfrey Show. He's a master at styling hair. And his hair-care line for curly hair ain't bad neither. The standout product hands down is the Quench Essential Oil that's infused with mongongo oil (which means it's great for your skin, too).
It doesn't matter how many hours you spend at the gym each week: if you don't clean up your diet, you will not see the results you want! A study from the University of Texas found that without dietary control, people who completed a 12-week program of resistance training and high-intensity interval training lost a disappointing 1 percent of body fat. Don't let your hard work go to waste! (That's exactly why Harley Pasternak says working out is the least important part of losing weight.)
If the name doesn’t reel you in, how about the fact that this delectably creamy concoction can make your comb-thru that much easier? The tangles simply melt away when you slather this on, and it doesn't leave your hair feeling heavy and greasy. With hints of vanilla and butter icing, we suggest you top your hair off with it, although the smell may make you want to spread it on a cupcake.
Once upon a time, I created a recipe for an all natural shampoo. It was a much better alternative to the harsh shampoos that I had used for most of my life. After some time, however, I found that it was making my scalp really dry and irritated. After doing some research I learned the value of having a pH balance shampoo recipe. And that’s why I shared my pH Balanced Shampoo recipe.

Replace "I should" with "I choose." So instead of "I should be eating more fruits and vegetables," it's "I choose to eat more fruits and vegetables" or "I choose not to," because it's more powerful language," Williams says. "It shows that you're in control, you're making the choice. So if you choose to or you choose not to, you make the choice and you move on."
My name is Latrice (aka Ms Lala) and I am here to help you on your hair growth journey.  I have had natural hair for over 12 years.  I grew my hair long with a simple method I call the 3 M’s of Hair Care- Minimize Breakage, Maximize Growth, Maintain Progress.  Take the quiz below to determine where you should start on your journey to long healthy hair.
Set a weekly goal for activity. To build your confidence, "make the first goal so easy that you say, 'I know I can do that,'" Williams suggests. She recommends weekly goals because if you set a daily goal and miss a day, you might get discouraged; weekly goals give you more day-to-day flexibility. And at the end of the week, reward yourself with a visual reminder of your accomplishment, such as buying flowers for yourself.
Weight loss starts with the brain, not the belly,” says psychotherapist Doris Wild Helmering, MSW, coauthor of Think Thin, Be Thin. For many people, achieving a healthy weight is possible only once certain mental and emotional issues have been addressed. Why? Because many of us overeat or avoid exercise for reasons we don’t entirely understand — or that we feel powerless to control.
Water and water-based infusions which are called distillates or aqueous extracts, are used as fillers and are literally used to ‘fill your bottle up’ inexpensively. Water-based solutions are vulnerable to spoilage so preservatives like paraben and sodium benzoate must be added to the product. Don’t expect water quality to be high either. Your most likely looking at tap water being used, which means your products likely contain chorine and fluoride along with a multitude of other toxins.
Of course we love blueberries, but there's another reason to love the sweet fruit. Blueberries contain proanthocyanidins that interact with hair follicles to promote growth and slow down hair graying and loss. Curls bottled this benefit up and launched a jelly that promises to promote hair growth while defining, defrizzing and holding your curls in place.
Whether more dairy intake is a predictor of successful weight maintenance, is unclear.[33] Food variety is evaluated by virtue of the dietary diversity score (DDS).[53] Some studies declare that lower DDS[54,55,56] is related to lower body mass index (BMI); just one study has shown that their association is inverse.[57,58] As energy intake increases along with DDS,[59] the lower food group variety causes lower energy intake;[34] so it is essential to eat just a special kind of food. Dietary habits that can help obese persons to keep their lost weight are self-efficiency, cognitive control, monitoring weight, correct dietary choices, high levels of physical activity, eating more low calorie-dense foods, and lower portion size.[6,7,28,29,30,32] Unfortunately, most of the individuals who have lost weight successfully, give up healthy behaviors after the weight loss period.[12] Although the special foods do not have a confirmed role in weight maintenance, other foods with a high amount of isoflavones may be effective in weight maintenance. Soy products are foods with a high amount of isoflavones.[60,61,62,63] However, we have not documented researches in this field. Therefore, it is suggested to be considered in future researches. Some specific behavior also may be effective in weight maintenance. Previous publications have shown that sleep deprivation may be associated with obesity and central adiposity.[64] Therefore, whether or not sleep duration is related to weight maintenance needs to be made clear in the future. Other behaviors also need to be assessed in this regard.
I have been a natural for about 3 years now and my hair looks like I just big chopped it. It did grow a little bit but the growth for 3 years is really disappointing. I watch YouTube videos almost everyday on how to create a hair regimen because I believe I don’t even have one. My hair is always in styles like box braids and crochet braids. I hear protective styling is very good to help grow hair but nice my hair is short most styles won’t look good. Especially since I’m starting high school in a couple of months I will not want anyone to see my natural hair because it’s one of my insecurities. I just need help on how to create a regimen because all I do to my hair is Shampoo+ conditioner on Saturday and then I usually put it back into braids and then I leave it alone which I shouldn’t. I need your help!! I want my hair to grow but can I do it while it’s in box braids?
These two cleansers are very commonly used for natural hair care as both do a wonderful job of cleansing impurities and conditioning hair. Mix either the juice of one lemon or two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of warm water and rinse through hair then comb through. You can use this on it’s own or after shampooing for extra cleansing and conditioning. I highly suggest giving your locks a break for 2 weeks from all shampoo and strictly stick to just using this rinse to help balance out pH levels of the scalp.
Triglycerides are found in body fat and from the fats you eat. Triglycerides levels in the blood reflect what you have eaten recently. HDL and LDL cholesterol levels show what you have been eating over a long period of time. If you eat a fatty meal your triglyceride levels will be elevated for a short period of time. If you continue to eat a diet high in fat your triglyceride levels will continue to rise. The liver transfers the triglycerides into body fat, or cholesterol, which raises LDL and lowers HDL levels in the blood.

Also, I forgot to mention stay away from products with Petroleum Jelly, Mineral Oil (liquefied petroleum jelly), paraffin, silicones and sulfates to the best of your ability. A lot of products purporting to be good for our hair list one of the above as (among) the first ingredients in the product, but honestly it is a cheap bulking ingredient that offers no nutritional value to your hair whatsoever. They make for excellent barriers to moisture once applied on your hair/scalp but it’s also tantamount to wrapping yourself in cling film, not allowing your pores to breathe and to be hydrated by the water in the atmosphere.
Priority chemicals such as propyl-paraben, butyl-paraben, phthalates, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-donors, or nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs). To truly understand the formulation and the chemicals therein, we also expect full ingredient transparency so we can screen them. This means that generic ingredients like fragrance either need to be natural or have their sub-ingredients listed.
Pistachios have two main advantages over any other nuts. First, you get to eat more pistachios per ounce than any other nut. One ounce of pistachios is about 40 nuts, while one ounce of almonds is only about 22 nuts. Second, it takes a lot longer to eat one ounce of pistachios, thanks to their shells. This longer snacking time means you'll eat more slowly and feel full for a longer time.

4C hair has the tightest curls of all hair patterns, with hairs forming tight s's, z's or coils. 4C hair shares many of the other characteristics of type 4 hair, and of course, individuals with 4C hair can have different hair densities and porosities, which changes how your hair behaves. However, these are some of the defining qualities of 4C hair:
To moisturise the scalp and hair, I would firstly lightly mist both with water (that I’d boiled to purify and allowed to cool prior). It is the water that provides the moisture/the hydrating element which is so important for the hair and helps to minimise breakage. I would then seal that moisture to my hair and scalp with an organic oil, such as virgin avocado or coconut oil (I use the latter because I love the aroma) or even virgin olive oil. You don’t need to use a lot – a little goes a long way. You can part your hair into sections to make this easier, make sure to use a wide-tooth comb to do this. When you are negotiating with two hair textures, standard brushes make it much more likely that your hair will break because of the fine teeth and their ability to snag at the point at which your natural and permed hair meet (the line of demarcation). This is detrimental to those trying to retain their current hair length. Finger detangling is also perfectly fine to separate your hair into sections as needed, and means you can better determine the level of force needed to pry apart your hair without risking misjudging it with a comb and ripping hair out!
Damage to the hair must be trimmed away or grown out. For example, there is not a permanent cure for split-ends. There are some conditioners that can essentially patch split-ends and make them less visible, but over a period of time those split-ends will reappear. The only way to permanently get rid of your split-ends is to trim them away. You should absolutely never burn away your split-ends.

In such cases, the first step is to turn inward and ask some questions. “‘What am I really hungry for?’ Perhaps you need a hug or a word of encouragement from a friend instead of that piece of leftover chocolate pie in the refrigerator,” she says. Perhaps you need to bust out of a stressful job, destructive relationship, or self-abusive attitude to make your health and well-being a priority.
So, you asked me how I wash my hair when it’s out of protective hairstyles. After I take my protective hairstyles out, I wash it with sulfate free shampoo and do a deep conditioner. After I’m done my hair always shrinks super short and I look so awkward. I put a bunch of oil in it and before I go to bed I put a headwrap on. In the morning even though I put a bunch of oil in my hair, my hair is super dry and extremely tangled AND extra flat.
“Clearly, the greatest cancer risks are concentrated in the heavy and moderate drinker categories. Nevertheless, some cancer risk persists even at low levels of consumption. A meta-analysis that focused solely on cancer risks associated with drinking one drink or fewer per day observed that this level of alcohol consumption was still associated with some elevated risk for squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus, oropharyngeal cancer, and breast cancer, but no discernable associations were seen for cancers of the colorectum, larynx, and liver. On the basis of the lesser overall cancer risk at the lower end of the dose-response continuum, the World Cancer Research Fund/AICR made the following recommendation: ‘If alcoholic drinks are consumed, limit consumption to two drinks a day for men and one drink a day for women.'” You can check out the entire article here: http://ascopubs.org/doi/full/10.1200/JCO.2017.76.1155
Excellent article. But i think we can also add Yoga in the top priorities. Yoga is considered as one of the best thing that can reverse the aging effects significantly at home. There are several poses that can boost the blood circulation and provide the essential nutrition to various cells. I have found an article entitled ” 21 Yoga Poses for Anti Aging – Yoga Turns the Clock Back”
It has been shown that a greater resting metabolic rate (RMR) at baseline, increased dietary restraint, and low frequency of dieting,[8] are associated with weight regain. A meta-analysis in 2001, revealed that using a very low energy diet (VLED) for weight loss or losing more than 20 kg are two predictors of weight maintenance,[9] however, one study that assessed the method of weight loss, declared that patients on VLED gain more weight after the end of the weight loss period, but a self-directed approach was more successful in this regard.[10] Low intake of takeaway and fast foods,[11] reduction of food consumption, adherence to a low-fat diet,[12] and lower sugar-sweetened beverage consumption[13] are some of the behaviors of maintaining the weight loss. Adopting these behaviors as a habit needs supportive strategies by virtue of phone or email.[14]

The good news is, you don't have to change everything at the same time. In fact, the trick to healthy living is making small changes—taking more steps each day, adding fruit to your cereal, having an extra glass of water, or saying no to that second helping of buttery mashed potatoes. One thing you can do right now to make your lifestyle healthier is to move more.

At the base of every hair follicle, right at the scalp, are sebaceous glands. These get a bad rap as most people complain about greasy or oily hair. Chances are, if you’re using conventional hair products, your stripping the natural healthy oils from these sebaceous glands that actually help to protect, nourish and fight against infection. The more chemicals you put on your scalp, but more you harm the sebaceous glands, which in turns gets you reaching for more shampoo, conditioner, defrizzer, hair color and so on.

Hey Kate. Im 16 and I’ve been transitioning since April 2013. The back of my hair is natural but the front still has some relaxed ends. I get braids & leave them in for 2 or 3 months. & I oil my scalp 2 twice a Week. When I take my hair out I usually get blowouts at a Dominican salon & have them cut off some of my ends. This helps you not have to big chop until you have enough growth
Hi Tom, Yes, as reported: “Study investigators also calculated life expectancy by how many of these five healthy habits people had. Just one healthy habit (and it didn’t matter which one) … just one… extended life expectancy by two years in men and women. Not surprisingly, the more healthy habits people had, the longer their lifespan.” All of these results were statistically significant. There is a link to the actual study at the bottom of the post, it’s very clearly written, take a look.
